Chief Operating Officer / College Director
Culinary Institute Lenotre
CIL Family,
I am enthused to share some news regarding various successes enriching our student’s education and experience at CIL. Over the last few months, our administration team has been diligently working on the final stages of funding its Bachelor of Science Degree programs. This month, both the Department of Education and the U.S. Veterans Administration, have approved funding for both degrees:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Culinary Arts
Bachelor of Science Degree in Hospitality and Restaurant Management
These Higher Education degrees were developed to enhance management potential for career mobility and entrepreneurial opportunities for the learner. They include distance education – hybrid (combination of Online and In-person) learning modality and will be offered beginning our January 2025 Start. As our CIL Alumni, we wanted to reach out and notify you of this great opportunity for you to continue your education with a Bachelor of Science degree.
As an alumnus, Culinary Institute Lenotre (CIL) will be accepting and crediting all of your courses from CIL applicable toward the bachelor's degree program of your choice. While each student’s academic and financial journey is different, on average, we expect a CIL alumnus to complete their bachelor’s degree between 8-9 terms (quarter or full time). The expected quarter credit hour (QCH), on average will be approximately 90 QCHs and a near 80 QCHs for the B.S. Degree in Culinary Arts and the B.S. Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, respectively.
The International Externship Team has been busy with new initiatives by providing new sites with great opportunities for new experiences in culture and menus for the Bachelor's Degree students as well as for all others. The Externships are both domestic (U.S.A.) and international. The new affiliations with Intercontinental Hotel and Marriott International have yielded new opportunities in North America and abroad.
In addition to our existing Puebla, Mexico site and Corsica, France, the expansion of our French Affiliations with Anantara Plaza Hotel in Nice, France has been very enriching for students. This is a 5-star Hotel located on the French Riviera overlooking Le Jardin Albert 1er and Baie des Anges, a beautiful historic nineteenth-century building. Inaugurated in 1848 in old-world elegance, this location was once home to the city's first luxury hotel in Belle Èpoque façade, Hotel de France. We sent our first group of students for the October term and are having a wonderful experience. The affiliation is unique in that they welcome six students representing each of our programs four times per year during our starts.
Students interested in our International and Domestic Externships outside of the Houston GMA, are optional for our students from every program. That said, interested students applying for international or other domestic sites outside Houston, will undergo a selection process.
For more details on our new international externships in Nice & Corsica, France, and Puebla, Mexico, please visit with your program director, Career Services Externship Administrator, Mike Martinez, and our International Alliances Manager, Teresa Zabala at 713-358-5078.
My staff and I are here to help in any way possible.
Happy Holidays to you from our family to yours!!!
